scanmagic scanner problems
« on: July 19, 2003, 23:05 »
My daughter's pc was accidently disconnected from the mains.  On reconnection she found that her scanner would not work.  She went through the correct procedure for re-installing but the pc will not recognise the new hardware being added. ???

Hi, Lona.   Did she go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager tab and remove any reference to the scanner before she tried re-installing it?  (Will have a yellow exclamation mark by the side of it if there is a problem.)

My Scanmagic 1200 USB is a bitch when you need to re install it, just remember that if it has a printer, you'll need to uninstall that too then install the scanner and printer again  ;D

Dave, I went into device manager but there was no imaging device showing and no yellow exclamation marks either.  I did a file find to see if there was any left over files but nothing came up.

Robo, she has a printer and it is an hp815c. Are you saying I should uninstall the printer and install the scanner first?

Lona most USB devices like the software installing first so install that from the CD before connecting the scanner and it should hopefully find it then  :-*

I did all that as per the book Sandra but it would still not find the scanner.  I was wondering if the plug being pulled out from the wall caused a surge when it was put back in and it ruined the transformer on the scanners cable.
