Topic: Motherbaord????????????

I just got given a motherbaord by my uncle and he says he dosnt no what motherbaord it is . He gave me a list of specs of the person he bought it from (see bottom of page). I think its the JETWAY 867V266B  ???http://www.4goldenbridge.com/jet867asviak.html

There is only one drawback i can see its in the memory. The spec says 2.0GB and the site says 1.0 GB

spec: 2 x 168-pin DIMM Sockets support PC133/PC100 SDRAM up to 2.0GB System Memory. 2 x 184-pin DDR Module Socket support DDR200/DDR266 DDR SDRAM up to 2.0GB System memory.

Site: 2 x 168-pin DIMM Sockets support PC133/PC100 SDRAM up to 1.0GB System Memory.
2 x 184-pin DDR Module Socket support PC2100/1600 DDR SDRAM up to 1.0GB System memory.

So any ideas form use guys what it could be?

Can you not see any numbers on the motherboard at all Mark?
It may be a later revision that enables it to have more ram.
Is the guy who got the specs getting mixed up with it taking 1 gig of either SDRAM or DDR ram and thinking it will take 1 gig of each so it will take 2 gig in his way of thinking

Yes thats what i thought. Thow looking at the baord i can see to differences.



I'm still sure its a JETWAY 867V266B. If this is the case dos that mean i can have a xp2400? or will it just be the xp2000?

I cant see any max size of cpu on the site or on the specs youve given me Mark?
Have you got a spare PC that you can build it into with a 2ghz cpu then you could install something like si soft sandra to give you the board details and specs and maybe the revision no. and max cpu supported :doggie:

Just a pointer on the RAM. Out of the 2 motherboards I've had with 2DDR and 2SDRAM slots both have said do not mix RAM. I'm not sure if the reason they say 1Gb is because that's all the motherboard can handle or because RAM was limited to 512Mb a stick when the wrote it...

A lot of boards say 1 gig max Robo,I believe that you can get 1 gig sticks but I have never seen any for sale anywhere.
Windows 98 and Me have a problem with using over 1 gig of ram for some reason,presumably XP doesnt have that limitation :doggie:

I've seen 1Gb sticks for sale in my PC Magazine £109 for one of them though, I think 1Gb of RAM is enough for the moment anyway

Windows Me and Windows 98 are not designed to handle more than 1 GB of RAM. More than 1 GB can lead to potential system instability.

Problem solved I sold the board hehehe yes i am a light weight n do give up easy i no. But now this leave me with the problem of buying a new board. I have decided to go with this board.

if you look on the cpu table it syas it supports up to xp2000 but it has other stuff writin in the write hand box what dos this mean?

I think it means that if you have a motherboard with one of the engineering revision codes listed, it will not work with that particular model of AMD XP or Duron(Morgan).

You will usually find the engineering revision number silkscreened onto the motherboard somewhere.
