Topic: Motherboard Audio connections ?

Right need some help here as I'm not 100% sure what connects to what, plus I ain't got a set of headphones or a Mic to check it out.

Coming from the Case Front Mic and Speaker ports is a cable marked thus :

GND..............................................
M in...............................................
M Bass...........................................
Speak L.... looped to another
connector marked the same .........
Speak R....looped to another
connector marked the same..........

And the Motherboard connectors are Thus

Whilst I realise were GND goes and speak L and R go, not sure about the order of the rest. I think it best  you name all connections if you know  em.

Hmmm, that's a puzzle isn't it.  It might help if we knew what 'M' is.  The motherboard connections look like a 4.1 set up.  The 4 is the two front and two rear speakers, and the .1 is the sub-woofer.  Could this relate to 'M bass'?  Gawd knows, sorry mate!

But I cannot wait for Clive to get back............................. it was so reasurring hearing him say 'One of our technicians will be along shortly' and Adept or Lobo usually were  

Right, GND is easy [Black}

then I reckon AUD-OUT-R and BACKOUT-R is Speak R looped together

and AUD-OUT-L and BACKOUT-L is Speak L lopped together  

So that leaves MIC and MIC-POWER and + 5VA, there are 8 connectors and only 7 wires, the two remaining wires being M in and M Bass ?

well I just hope Lobo and Adept honour their contractual obligations, and don't have the same holidays off, or a homeosexual affair and elope together. Tell me again Sandra, you did get them to sign didn't you ?

I cant see why you would need the 5v supply to the speakers or mic Tony,so I think that this is your spare pin.
What the M bass is I cant think sorry

that looks promising, just given it a cursary look and least ways the Mobo maker has tagged the pin header according to the Intel assignment plan. Now if the Case maker marked their cable connection in the same fashion there would be no misunderstanding.


Go On Sandra put the image back up if you want, it is just that I could not make out the writing on the block connector. Plus I'm spoilt with three 17" screens.......... might not have BroadBand but I should certainly see it coming

Well assuming  connections GND, L-L and R-R are as I supposed, and the 5V is not needed [clever lass] That still leaves Mic in and Mic bass to allocate, what do you reckon ? Mic in to the Mic header, and Mic Bass where does that go ?

Is it a stereo input from the mic socket Tony ?
Its possibly lost something in the Taiwanese translation about the Bass thing as I cant see why that would be called that.
If you have 3 wires coming from the mic socket then one is the ground and the other 2 left and right channels so I would say that ground is joined to the common ground pin with the headphone socket as per Hookies pic,with the other 2 going to mic and mic bass.
Either way round would be ok it would just reverse the left and right channels wich,with a single mic into a stereo input,wouldnt seperate anyway.
If it only has 2 wires then again it wouldnt matter which way round they went as its not polarity sensitive so I would go for mic to mic and make the mic bass the common ground

I have no idea about your audio header by the way or I'd have answered earlier

I reckon the case maker will have common grounded the Mic and Speaker ports at the case front [not viewable] knowing full well Intel's pin header does not accomadate two individual GND connections. So it's M in, to Mic and M Bass to Mic-Power, agreed ?
