I opened the side of my case earlier. My CPU went down 10C and my system 15C
@Tony Asrock is the "cheap" make os ASUS
Funny you should say that Robo, as Simon is using an ASUS board in that new build, and he commented in the simularities between the two. I'm sold on them Robo at this money
Got A Question: Which way does a CPU fan go, does it push air into the HS or suck it away? I've heard of people using them both ways.
I'm sure air forced over the heatsink is the industry norm, as the heatsink is to all intent and purpose a heat exchanger. Taking the heat generated by the CPU and removing it via conductivity. And the fan removes the heat from the sink by disipation, ie; blowing it away. But if your an experimanting sort of a guy, why not try it both ways, and monitor it temp wise.
But you have got to consider the HeatSink manufactures must have it sussed, mines blowing air onto the heatsink.
PS: I'm currently on the new PC, and readings are ambient 25C. System 36C. CPU 50C. My PC is System 35C. and CPU 46C. but I'm going to do a clean install on that one because it seems sluggish compared to the new one.
