New Window in IE
« on: August 17, 2003, 23:14 »
Hi when a window opens in IE, after clicking a hyperlink, the window doesnt open maximised and i have to do this manually each time although it doesnt seem to "remember" that i did it last time. Is there any way to make it open maximised?

Thanks in advance

Bigboss  ;D

They need to be resized manually:

Start IE, right click any link on a web page, and select Open in a New Window.
Go back to the first IE window you opened and close it.
Return to the second window and manually drag it to fill the screen.
(Do not use the maximize button, for that's a temporary setting that will not be retained.)

Now press the Ctrl button, and close this second window, holding the Ctrl button depressed, using 'close' in the File menu (important!).
All windows should now open maximized.

Its not the proper way BB but if you open a window from a link and dont maximise it but increase it to maximum by dragging the top and the side to full window size then it will give you a max sized window the next time although it will be in "restoe" mode  :-*

Hi BB,

If you drag the window to the maximum size by the corners, that sometimes works.  I think IE remembers the size of the last window opened, so if that was some sort of small pop up window, you may need to open a window, maximise it, then close and re-open IE, and it may remember the maximum sized window.

You could also locate the shortcut to IE in the IE folder, right click it, select Properties, then you can choose to open all windows maximised.
