Webcam Query
« on: August 05, 2003, 21:19 »
I need some help guys with a camera problem

I have a Labtec webcam and I am unable to receive or apparantly send my pic to other users  :-\  Its only started happening over the last few days.  The "receive" option is greyed out when I go to tools/video in options.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times but the status in properties is still showing as "unavailable"  any ideas??  I have run ad aware6 and spybot to ensure there is no spyware lurking around.

hope someone can suggest a solution  :-*

I take that its a USB connection on it Serenity?

I have a labtec cam as well and it is dodgy sometimes - I have found changing the USB port helps.

What OS are you running and any errors or anything or just greyed out boxes?  :-*

I think shes away at the moment DJ.
She is on 98SE and in the properties for the webcam it says it is unavaailable even though she can see her self on the monitor,it wont connect on net meeting.
She has tried it in different usb ports with the same result :doggie:

Urm strange!

I'll have a look around and post if I find anything.

I haven't had that particular problem with my labtec webcam.

Thanks Sandra

you've probably already had a go at them serenity, but thought I'd post them anyway

Thanks for your advice DJ1UK  :-*  I shall wade through and see if theres anything in there I have'nt already tried. Strange thing though, I can see ppl on their cams at normal speed but as soon as I click the link to activate my own cam the pc freezes and I have no control of the mouse  :-\ the only way to deal with it is to completely reboot  >:( oh well  fun and games huh  :-[
