Code Memorizing
« on: September 01, 2003, 14:46 »
Hi all,

I need to know what is the way to let windows memorize the "PassWord & the Code".

     To make my question clear:

For instance, When I become a new member in PC-PALS the computer asks me to put my name and my Code (or password). I do that. Immediately a small window appears after that to ask me if I want windows to keep that in the memory. If I say yes, Then it's Ok. But sometimes I make a mistake and close that small window without sying yes.

What I can do to make that small window appear again to put "yes" in it and to let windows memorize it?

Hi Joudi,

If open Internet Explorer, and go to Tools > Internet Options > Content, then click the Auto Complete button, you should get a list of options.  If you just want to save usernames and passwords, click the appropriate button, and the 'Prompt Me To Save Passwords' tickbox.

I think you will have to click the 'Clear Passwords' button, to start again, from which point Windows should ask you if you want to save future passwords.

I would not advise, however, that you save passwords on your machine for things like Home Banking, or where you have accounts with online retailers, as there could be a potential security risk.

Hope that helps.   :)

Thanks Simon,

But if I must clear the passwords, will that option clear all the passwords of my "Windows" (computer), or only the page which I'm opening and working on?

It clears all password entries you have made in web pages, Joudi.  The ones where you have been asked if you want to save them, and you said 'Yes'.  It won't touch your Windows log on passwords, only those you have used in Internet Explorer, but if you want to be sure, hang on until one of the more technical people can confirm this.  Someone else may know of a way to clear passwords individually, so you don't have to start again, but as far as I know, the only way is to clear them all.

It works Simon. Thanks a lot.

But logically, there should be a way in which we must not be obliged to wipe all the passwords and codes. Only that small window to appear again, or, to give us the choice of which password we like to remove. I say logically only. .. Now, did they do according to my logic? I don't know.

That's very true Simon. They let us see only a small part of what our computer contains, but they themselves can spy and see all what is there in it.    :-\
