Topic: Computer abreviations

Or, I have another idea:

     What if those Techies make for us a list or a page in the forum in which they put the most common abreviations used, to let us understand what they are talking about when they solve certain problem.

      If possible, the abreviations and little explanation about each (as Sandra did a little before in her post).

     

      Michelle, if they don't do that for us, that means they don't want us to catch up with them. Also that means they are afraid of us.  Right?

You make the list Joudi and I will try my best to answer them as I would probably leave lots out that you wanted to know

That's not an easy mission for me. It means that I must search in the forum posts every where to pick them up.

    If there is no other way, perhaps some others in the forum can help me. Everyone can get some and send them to Sandra. And by the time, perhaps you Sandra can add from time to time to that list.

    If there is any other better suggestion, may be someone can tell it to us.

One which confused me when I first started posting on forums was "Mobo" as I had no idea what it referred to.  But mobo = motherboard.

I must say joudi it does sound a good idea but I can see how it would be difficult to put together.

Well it tells you what the full names are Michelle but may not be of much use as knowing what RAM is doesnt necessarily help you to know what it does or how it does what it does but at least its a start I hope  

I have put a link to that site in the Useful Sites section and made it a "sticky" so it should be easier to find.
If anyone can find any better ones they can be added to it later,I will add the others that have been found to it now

That SGI site is good as it does have the explainations, not many on it though as you say.

Like yourself Joudi, I have bother understanding all these intitials. I never knew that a PSU was power supply unit.  Why all these abbreviations need to be used I know not why.
