Topic: Webcreator 2

A recent issue of Computeractive magazine recommended Webcreator 2 which I was thinking of buying for £20 to make a website for a local astronomical society.  What has just put me off is that it says "Integrated FTP toll to get your pages online" and I wonder if that means you have to pay them to act as webhosts?  I already have a large amount of webspace available with my ISP so I would not be happy having to pay a third party.

It seems to be included as a 'feature' Clive.  My interpretation is that it would be optional, and you should be able to use any FTP client, and any webspace you like, but it might be worth checking out.  Why don't you download the trial version first, and see if it's suitable?

Thanks for the clarification.  I think I might do that.  I can also download the full software but I prefer to have the original CD for obvious reasons.

I've received and installed Webcreator 2 and I'm sure that nobody will be surprised to learn that I am having difficulties with it.  

So I've chosen a nice template from the supplied catalogue and inserted a nice background picture.

I've got my heading sorted out and 7 buttons all labelled to link to other pages.  The problem is that the links don't appear to work.

Let's start with the easiest first - that is the "contact us" link which is set up to my e-mail address.  What have I messed up?

The mistake most people make is putting a space between the mailto: and the email address, but you don't seem to have done that.

Does anything happen at all when you click the link?

Have you clicked on "Send an e mail" and clicked OK Clive ?

Absolutely nothing at all.  The button indicates that it is being clicked but then nothing happens.   :'(  I've also constructed a secondary page for the "meetings" button and that won't work either.

Yes, I've done that Sandra.  My only hope was that I had linked it wrongly to the home page.

Is this from within your browser or the Webcreator software Clive?

You'll probably find the links won't work until you  test the site in a real browser.

I tried setting it to 1 second but to no avail Sandra.

It was from within Webcreator Adept.  OK then, I'll continue building the website to gain experience and then try getting it online to see if it works.

You must be saving the site somewhere on your hard drive Clive.

Just use file|open in IE to open your index.htm file.

Where things are stored on my hard drive has always been a complete mystery to me Adept.  
However, I found it and did as you suggested, but the button still refuses to call up the page.
