Clive, rather than messing around with the control panel mute, why don't you just press the mute button on your monitor? I think there's also a volume control there too.

Thanks Adept, I didn't realise I had one.    That will be much more convenient.  It's not that I'm being miserable, but Jane started going ballistic with me as her computer is next to mine and she can't concentrate on her work.

Sorry for causing all the trouble for you Clive ( I'm not really   ) But I thought I was being quite clever to come up with it seeing as I couldnt even get Swish to do anything at all a week earlier  
Also this is THE FUN FORUM isnt it  
You could always buy Mrs.Clive some nice diamond studded ear plugs for xmas,or get some of those ear defenders for when people work with pneumatic drills
