New Computer
« on: October 23, 2003, 17:42 »
I'm considering getting a new computer and I've seen one that I may want to get. Just wondering if any one has heard of a make called Infinity, whether it would be a reliable and if they know anything about them.

Infinity PC

Intel Pentium 4 processor 2.66GHz
512Mb DDR RAM
80Gb hard drive
14" TFT monitor
DVD/CDRW combo drive
Radeon 9000 integrated graphics
5.1 surround sound speakers
Software bundle included

Those are the specs and I've put a pic of it. Any thoughts???

Without wishing to p*ss on your chips, can I offer some constructive criticism, Whiskas?  Others may disagree, but these are my immediate thoughts:

1. You might find the monitor is quite small.

2. You would be better off with a separate DVD-ROM and CD-RW, rather than a combo.  It just makes it a bit easier make back up copies of your discs.

3. In my (limited) experience, integrated graphics don't generally perform as well as a separate AGP graphics card.

Other than that, it seems OK, but what sort of price are they asking for it?

Eeek what's the deal with people and TFTs? Sure they save space but for a cheap CRT you don't get that annoying blurring, though you don't get that cool effect when you push the screen either  :'(

Guess I like TFT cos they are different (to me anyway) And they look nicer. ;)  And much less space.

And I don't tend to touch the screen so thats not a problem  ;D

    ;D ;D

Did you ever balance the waste paper bin over the door, so when the teacher came in, it fell on his head?   :D :D  We had one called Mr Feakes, who was the epitamy of evil.  His aim with a wooden blackboard rubber was phenominally accurate!  I also have to thank him, because without him, I would probably never have read The Hobbit.   ;D
