ME really is a complete bag of poo, isn't it! My soon-to-be-ex missus has decided that she's going to be the new owner of my laptop, so I did a full clean reinstall of ME from the bootable install CD, which has a Ghost file containing ME and the drivers.
Not long after I'd downloaded the ton of updates required to make ME usable and then adding a number of security apps, I was hit with a BSOD right out of the blue. On re-booting and going through the CheckDisk rigmarole, REGENV32.EXE was found to have corrupted. The original file is around 72k, while the repaired file is 60k.
This is apparently a well-documented problem, but why doesn't Microsoft provide a downloadable replacement, for goodness sake?
Oh yes... I did extract a copy from the CAB in windows/options, but found that corrupted, too!
Anyone got an original? PM me. 8)
