Another one of us 2000XP users  ;D My one used to run at 65 constantly but I went to the extreme and bought a new case, system exhaust, 3 blue LED fans, a 2 40mm fan HDD cooler, a 80mm fan upgrade for my Heatsink and now I have a new fan waiting to be put in as soon as I get some stuff sorted. Now it runs about 40 - 45.

What GFX card do you have? (my GFX card raised the temperature of my CPU by 2C as it's so hot!)

Note: My bro just got home with Episodes 31 - 52 :O

hmm.. I can't recall to find any options to configure the trigger to shutdown by a certain degree of celsius. But how to explain the (burning)smell then?
First I thought it was the harddisk, so I bought a harddisk cooler...but unfortunately...i was wrong..
hmm..I got a Geforce 2 deluxe videocard. The fan on the card is still running...don't know if the videocard is the cause...

Everytime when I'm going to play games or try to video editing, I need my external fan to keep my system running.. :(

Hi Naruto,

Do you play games and video while their CD is in the drive?
If so, it might be drive problem which you need to change.

Hi Joudi,

Yes, I do play games while cd is in the drive, but when I'm video editing, I'm not using the cdrom.

Thnq peepz for your help :P My problem is finally fixed. The burning smell is generated from my videocard. There wasn't enough space for the fan to blow away the air. I created some space by replacing the pci cards to other slots. Tested a few times at 100% cpu usage. It doesn't crash anymore :P
