Are you sure that you are connected to the net ok, ie can you check your e mails or do you get an error there too ?

yeah connected to the net, msn messenger and everything work fine...it's only my browsers that have the problem....i'm on a different pc in case you were wondering lol...

Ok try pinging this addy xxxxxxxx
If it pings ok then try
ftp://xxxxxxx
in browser and see if you get a log on box up or an error
Edited to remove the IP addy

Ok so that means that your internet connection is ok
Have a look in the TCP/IP bit again and see what other protocols you can enable and also if you have multiple TCP/IP remove all but one of them

Worth checking to see that you haven't inadvertently blocked access to/from port 80 with your firewall (I did this the other day and kept getting problems). FTP would have used port 21.

I tried shutting down the firewall completely to no avail :'(
