Acronis TrueImage
« on: January 18, 2004, 21:14 »
Hi
Could you please help me with a problem. I tried to use the
software to backup my system. When running, after a short while
it stops the backup with an error message, saying that a program
is still running. I have turned off the anti virus and firewall
and checked that a program is not running. The only thing that
I can think of is my PCI ADSL modem, that is always looking
for a connection. Any help would be appreicated.

Hi JK and :welcome:

Can you tell us which software you are using to backup and what are you backing up onto (CD, ZIP ?)

Also what operating system are you using (Windows 98 / XP etc).

Then someone should be able to help  ;)

:thanks:

There is a free program called End It All, which does just that.  It closes all running programs.  Might be of some use, JK.

Also might be worth doing a virus scan and an adware / spyware scan, especially if you think something might be running in the background you are unaware of.  Ad Aware, and / or Spybot, are what we usually recommend to seek and remove spyware.

Does it say, or give any clue, as to what is still running?

Have no adware or spyware running.
Think that its the ADSL modem always running.
