« on: January 29, 2004, 14:21 »
Dear sir/madam:

I have a problem that I wish a professor to solve it, that is a month before I have installed the winxp home to my pc, at that time, I can't read the DVD by its windows media player. Several days later I updated the window through internet, and then I installed the xp plus. After installed I can read the DVD. and three days before, I have formated the computer. I install the xp home again with same CD with same computer and with same xp plus (same disk). but this time, the media player show a message is media player can't read the DVD, I have tried the update the win xp and download the window media player to 9 series, but it is still can read the DVD, please help to solve the problem, Thanks.

John

John, according to the info that you emailed ( I think that by mistake you clicked on Report to Moderator instead of reply, this sends an e mail to the admins of the forum).
The error message and solution is detailed here :

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;823770&Product=winxp

Also have a look here :

Have you recently bought the DVD player or is it one that was ok before you upgraded to XP ?
Maybe a firmware update will fix it.
Can you tell us the make and model of the DVD ?

Hi John,

Just a thought, in addition to what Sandra said, but could it be to do with the DVD player being region locked, and you are trying to play DVDs of a different region?
