Title: Free VOIP Software (Voice Calls)
Post by: DJ on February 26, 2004, 15:38
Hi

I have been told about the following software.  It allows you to make calls over the internet. It is free (or so the site says).

http://www.skype.com

Anyone see a catch? or any opinions?

The only downside I can see about it is that is made by the Kazaa people, so there is probably a temptation for them to include spyware as they did with Kazaa.

Although according to Davey Winder in this month's PC-Pro magazine, it doesn't contain any spyware right now.

Aparrently more than 4 million people have downloaded already and there are more than 125,000 users online.

Just had a look at that site and to me it looks very similar to paltalk where you can talk to friends after downloading the software. You would only be able to talk to others who also download skype software so what's new in that. Might as well chat live on msn and it's got nicer smiley's.  ;D
