Title: Dvd ripping

I've got a time computer, and it came with a really dull generic dvd-rw,it's not branded or anything and i can't find any information out about it on the net.

It's called ATTAPI DVD DUAL 4xMax, or something like that.


If i get some dvd copying software,do you think i'd be able to back up most dvd's? or would i need a better burner?


Also could anybody recomend any free burning software and good dvd-r disks?

We've said many times that we can't discuss illegal DVD copying (or backing up, whatever you call it) on here, as it is against the forum regulations, and our hosts rules.  Sorry, Jaminxz.  :(

The only thing I will say is that if your drive works for general DVD Writing, it should work for any purpose.  The blank media you use can make a difference.  My Sony DVD+-RW doesn't like certain cheaper brands, but others are fine.

For a good range of blank media, try CDR Media.co.uk (http://www.cd-rmedia.co.uk/index.mhtml).  Zero Defex have been good for me.

One thing I'll mention is that the drive is an ACER model and probably a rebadged Sanyo/Optowrite drive.
