Title: XP Regional Settings

Hi

Having trouble running an Oracle based programme because my date setting is incorrect.

Have gone into the Regional and Language Options and they look ok for the UK but its still reading a US format somewhere.

The only strange thing I can see is in the Customize Regional Options, my long Date format is set to dd MMMM yyyy but if I try and change it and apply, I get an error message "One or More of the characters you typed in this field are invalid. Try typing different characters". I then restore the setting via the drop down box and the same error appears. I have to cancel out to continue.

Any ideas?

where do you live?

and what have you set as your time? e.g greenwich meantime ..blah blah..

p.s dont think you should have put this in hardware help  ::)

Ooops sorry - was looking at something else when I pressed post. :-[

I'm in the UK and I've got GMT set with the hour for BST set.

The only thing I can suggest is to go through each and every setting in Control Panel > Date, Time, Language and Regional Options, until you find something wrong.

I think the long date format you were referring to is the default format anyway, and it won't change on mine either.

Just a thought, but your date is set correctly, yes?  Sometimes the obvious things can be overlooked.

Is it just this one program you're having trouble with?  Is it possible to change the date format on the software you are trying to run?  Other than that, I haven't a clue, so hopefully one of the techies will come up with something.  It might be useful if you could tell us exactly what you are trying to run, and what error messages you get from the Oracle based software, if any.

Which Oracle based program is it? Maybe the error is in the way it is set up.

I have only used basic oracle databases so I might gone off on a wrong tangerine ;D  tangent.
