I have got a GeForce 4 64mb card in my machine at the moment after upgrading from a Radeon. I've started getting problems with it when i restart the machine. When i restart, the computer bleeps letting me know that it cannot find the graphics card, but when i do a full power down and turn it back on, it find's it no problem. I know i will get used to this in time, but at the moment it is very annoying because i have to keep the button held down for quite some time with my arm at full stretch.
Does anyone know a cure for it before it drives me insane? :D

I know nothing, Corky, but - could it be something in BIOS that needs looking at, and is the thing fixed in 100% securely? Other than that, perhaps reinstall the drivers?
-
Corky, it sounds like there could be a need to update some drivers, the graphics card, poss the BIOS as Simon suggests and if you're usung a mobo with a VIA chipset, then you might need an updated driver from VIA/mobo manufacturer too. THis is a common problem
-
It is an EpoX mobo with a VIA chipset, so that may need looking at, i'll let my brother sort that out tho, he gets bitchey when i fiddle with the machine.
As for the gfx drivers, they were the ones off the cd as far as i know, so i will download the updates soon..
Thanx Simon and Bat :)

Im still Local Mod, just only in the General Discussion Area :)
Congrats to Sandra tho :) you deserve the position :D

Corky, your time will come ;)
Getting back on topic, it sounds like a hardware problem rather than software.
I'd take the card out, use a vacuum cleaner to suck the dust out of the AGP slot (be careful where you stick it :o) Then get a plastic eraser and clean the AGP contacts on the GeForce card by lightly rubbing the contact with the eraser.
You'd be surprised how often this works!
BTW I'm using the word "Eraser" because the other word would only cause certain people to lower the tone ;D ;D ;D

My entire machine could use a hoovering Adept :) The case has been off it for nearly 2 years because of the amount we put in and take out.

Corky, just a thought, make sure you always have the latest Detonator drivers loaded, they are the ones that make GeForce cards whizzzzzzz.
Hee hee I've just got my GeForce 4 card today for the new machine, woohooo ;D 8)
