Title: PSU POWER?

Soon im going to be upgrading my processor and motherboard as the one i have the now is getting a bit dated. Im thinking about this one as its a complete pack and comes with DDR memory.

But then i thought that maybe i should have a bit more and get this one.

I doesnt really matter what one i get but i think the dearer one might be better value.

Anyway what im not sure of is my case. I think the motherboards will fit fine since its an ATX case but im not sure it my PSU will be up to scracth. Its a 300W PSU. What im wondering is i am going to have to upgrade that aswell or is it fine the now?

And if you have a similar processor can you tell me what power your PSU is.

Hi Big_Boss

A lot depends upon what devices you will be using, the more you use the more power you need. I think 300W might just be pushing it a bit for a newer system.

It really does depend on what you are using in your system ... I would say a 350W minimum, but more wont do any harm

Yes you just unscrew the PSU, unplug all the leads, and replace the PSU and leads ...et voila  8)

Just make sure you get an ATX PSU  ;)

And one more thing  ;D

Ive been looking at a few local shops and one in particluar is selling a 350W PSU for £30. Is this a good deal or not?

Also do you know any good sites for buying PSUs?

I'm probably getting a Qtec 550W PSU costing £35 from www.falconcomputers.co.uk   a reasonably local shop to me

I've used Novatech (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/Products.html?a2b20c0d0e0) for about three years now, and always find them extremely competetive.   :)

Thanks for the link to Komplett, Big Boss.  A friend has been looking for an upgrade bundle, and those look just the job!  Have you actually dealt with them (Komplett) before?  The only thing I would watch out for might be the quality of the fan included.  You really don't want to skimp on that, as Bat, and many others will confirm!

I'd also like to second Rodders' recommendation of Novatech.  I've been using them on & off for about a year, and never had any problems.

The 400W PSU hasn't fared so well in reviews and doesn't deliver the power well.

I'll look on google to see if I can find anywhere else that sells Qtec PSUs in the UK ... there's bound to be more as they're so cheap

I havent actually bought anything from them before but they seem ok.
