Ok, all you need is a 98 boot disk on a floppy.
You can get one from here :

www.bootdisk.com

Or if you are on your 98 OS you can make one yourself  :)

Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
Click the Startup Disk tab, and then click Create Disk.
Insert a floppy in your disk drive when you are prompted, and then click OK.

If the new hard drive is in addition to the existing drive, it is very easy to partition an format it.

Simply install the drive, boot Windows XP and from the Administrative tools folder in Control Panel, run the Disk Manager application.

This will allow you to configure and format your new drive without all that tedious mucking about with boot disks ::)
