Title: For those that use SpamAssassin
Post by: Clive on April 25, 2004, 19:49
For those that use SpamAssassin, you may have noticed a degrading service since January 2004. As usual, Google has the Answer - it seems a spammer paid $200 an overly helpful geek on Google Answers to detail exactly how SpamAssassin works... I wonder if said geek ever got the money?

I've never used SpamAssassin.  Nor do I bother setting rules in my mail client.  As spam can be spotted a mile off, I find the most effective way to deal with it is to delete it on the server, before it ever reaches the PC.

E-Prompter  http://www.eprompter.com (http://www.eprompter.com)

Mailwasher  http://www.mailwasher.net (http://www.mailwasher.net)

(Or the one that Simon uses.)

Edit:  I've just noticed that the latest free version of Mailwasher only supports one account. However, I use the older free version (1.33) which supports multiple accounts.  If anyone with a server ;) would like me to send it to them so that others can use it, let me know.

There is a free alternative to the 'single account' Mailwasher, which is Pop Tray.  Pop Tray allows multiple accounts, and works in much the same way as Mailwasher.  I have been using it for a while, and can't fault it.
