Title: Upgrade to IE6 sp1
Post by: JK on June 13, 2004, 22:39
Hi
After having PC problems and having to re-install my Windows
ME operating system I have IE5.5 on my pc.
I have tried to download and upgrade to IE6 SP1 without succcess.
When my PC is installing the upgrade it goes from 2% to 85% each time, saying that files are missing, which they are not.
2% being IE6 install and 85% not IE6 install but ad on's.
I whent onto the net to resolve this problem, a site said complete IE6 download followed the instuctions with exactly the same result. Installation goes from 2% to 85% each time.
Can anyone help me?

This is happening from a CLEAN install?

That is very strange.

You don't need any other components before installing IE6? I can't remember... I think you might.

Go to the WINDOWS UPDATE page (seach your favourite search engine). Do the updates from here and see how you go.

I think we may have been waiting for your response to Ketamininja's answer, before we pursued the problem further, JK.

Glad you got it sorted, but it would be nice if you could tell us what the solution was.  :)
