Hi all I have just installed windows 98 onto a pentium 2 pc and i need to download a driver forthe built in modem that it has.
the pc is a compaq professional workstation 5100 and i have found the web site for theses drivers i have downloaded it onto a floppy but when i put it in the pc i want it for it says restart in dos which i then do ...but then what do i do im a little lost could you explain in simple english how to put the driver on a nd then get the modem working please thanks

Not sure about the DOS bit but I would open the Device Manager and go to Modem properties and update the driver and tell it the location is A:, and have the floppy in the drive.
It will probably be looking for an .INF file and you may have to browse the floppy for it if it cant locate it from the floppy by just having A: in the box :)

any idea where device manage is on windows 98

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the System icon.
3. Click the Device Manager tab.

Ok Dave, it sounds like th ecorrect driver.
On the download page it explains that it downloads an exe file which you then double click to automatically extract the required files to an already formatted floppy.
If you then open the floppy there is a read me text file on it which will explain the updating procedure :)

I just re read your first post, I assume that you downloaded the file to a floppy straight from the site that you put the link to.
You must download the file to your hard drive then double click it to allow it to write to a floppy :)
