HERE (http://www.soundcardcentral.com/reviews/storage/plextor/page1.htm) is a review of the Plextor 48x unit and pits it against the LiteOn equivalent
-
I dont trust that review at all. Just seems wrong. Lite-on doing better than a plextor is just pure wrong.
-
Here are some more reviews: The second one has alot of other higher end drives.
Personally I buy the cheap burners dont need a crazy yamaha or plextor. But if its
for the office we usually buy the top quality stuff when it comes to backup devices.

Thanks DB
I think your logic is sound .. and most home puters will suffice with something along the lines of a LiteOn drive, they're cheap and deliver good performance for what the home user would require. And given their pricing, its not going to break the bank to replace at a later date.
Only thing I'm not happy about is the inability to make the LiteOn DVD I've got region free. I buy DVDs from Canada (hey hey DB) due to price and would like to use them on my PC .... but everything I've tried so far has failed :-";"xx

Good Morning Bat ;D
On XP, correct me if I'm wrong and Im having trouble in putting what I want to say in words, but a picture tells a thousand words.

You are given 5 attempts to change region, after that the drive is locked. The region I want is 0 this means it isn't locked to any one region and will play all.
