My dad has dyslexia and also has developed eye problems as he's grown older. A couple of months ago he ask me if i knew of any programs that would read out the text for him. I know theirs such progs out there but i haven't really seen any. I know windows xp has the narrator, but ive never been able to get it to actually read the text. Although i only played with it for about 15 mins it seemed to only want to read out the title of the application i was fooling with and not the text, for example, in a webpage.
any of you fine techies have any ideas?

its alright to say, "Sorry Bob, I don't know". :go:

Sorry Bob, I don't know. ;D
But one of the techies might, if we can rouse one from their slumber! ;) :D

I remember that Simon needed something like that about two or three weeks ago.
Will this work with both of you?
(It's free for one month)

That looks like what he needs Joudi, good find :)
I had never heard of anything like that its almost Star Trek, or at least Red Dwarf isnt it ;D ;D ;D
Does anyone know if the speech recognition software has got to a reasonable level of development yet ?

I was just looking for different voices for Windows Narrator, but only for fun. That looks a good program, Joudi - I wonder what the voices sound like? I think it's the sort of thing most people would find extremely annoying, but great for those with poor vision.

Another one I found was Cool Speech.

It's alright, but I think it's only a trial version. I used to use it on my laptop (Windows ME). You have to pay for it (or "get" a serial... ;)) after a number of days/weeks.
It has the ability to read from webpages. There are also a lot of different voices u can d/l.
Hope this helps a bit.
P.S. I know there's a way for the XP text to speech to read websites. I've done it before...just have to remember how! ::)

I think that this may do it too Bob, it has a free trial but is a pay for one after the trial :(

Sure Bob. It's often said here in France:
"Quand on veut, on peut"
Which means: "When we want, we can" ;)
(Probably it exists in a similar meaning in english too).
