Hi roaddogg  :welcome:

What you have to do is edit a file called Boot.ini and remove the offending Windows 98 menu item.

First of all I'll need you to do this:-

Open up Control Panel from your Start Button
Choose the System icon
From the System Properties window, choose the Advanced tab.
Click the Settings button on the Startup and Recovery frame
Click the Edit button

Your boot.ini file will then appear in Notepad.

If you could copy and paste the contents back to me, I'd be happy to tell you what changes to make  ;)

We don't mind how you got here Adept.  I think that a substantial amount of alcohol has been consumed amongst pc-pals tonight as we have had a party here.  ;D

According to this:

http://lists.gpick.com/pages/Windows_XP_KBs.htm

Which has a link to this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;289022 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;289022)

It appears to be set correctly  ???
There doesnt appear to be any mention of a second OS  ???

You could try this:

Setting the Time Out
At the command prompt, type: bootcfg /timeout# Where # specifies the time in seconds after which default operating system will be loaded.

And set the timeout to a lower figure or possibly even try 0 so that it boots straight into XP   :-*

Hi roaddogg, just remove the

Code: [Select]
C:="Microsoft Windows"

bit and save the file.

Your PC should then boot straight into XP.
