I'm posting for a mate who has this problem.Everytime he starts his PC it shuts down after a few seconds as if it's on a loop.
He's not sure if it's spyware,Adware or something similar or if his younger bro has been playing around with it.
He's tried starting in Safe mode but the same thing happens.
Any suggestions???

Does it blue screen and show an error message ?
Which OS is it running ?

Sounds like it could be the MS Blaster worm. If so, the following could be useful:-
Removal Tool (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e70a0d8b-fe98-493f-ad76-bf673a38b4cf&displaylang=en)
Blaster Worm Patch (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2354406c-c5b6-44ac-9532-3de40f69c074&displaylang=en)
Run the removal tool, then load the patch before going online again, then get the Windows Updates which might have prevented it in the first place.
Of course, it might not be the Blaster Worm, in which case, I'll get me coat... ;)

Thanks for the information but how can he get rid if he cant get his computer to start?

Sorry, I missed the part in your first post about it not starting in Safe Mode.
There could be any one of a whole list of reasons for this, so I think it would be best to wait for a techie to come along, rather than me just guessing.
Has your mate installed any new hardware, like new drives, memory or anything, recently?
