Post by: whathaveidone on January 03, 2005, 12:03
I just connected to the Internet and my pc was unusually slow. Then a msdos window popped up and the only thing i could read before it closed again was 'deleting windows ServeID'
What happened and why did it happened?

Hopefully you will have an up to date antivirus program installed so it would be a good idea to run that to see if you have picked up a virus.

Secondly, download (also check for updates) and run Ad-Aware SE from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Let us know how you get on with that.  Good luck!

You could also download and run Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/), which can find different things to Ad Aware.  It's often a good idea to run both.  As Clive said, let us know how you get on.
