Post by: twiggy on February 08, 2005, 20:33
Help my system is so un-stable its unbeliverable. Keeps locking up with in 5minutes and half an hour everytime. Temp of cpu last time it did it was at 34oC, my virus scan and firewall are up to date (but cn't complete a full virus scan at the moment don't have enough time to) No overclocking is in place or has been done on anything in this current system.

What can the problems be i realy dont get it  ???

i have installed extra fans through out the case to make sure nothing is over heating.

Things I would check:-

Spyware - run Ad Aware and Spybot to check.

Graphics Card - seated correctly?  Fan working?  Could it be overheating?

Memory - again, seated correctly?  Have you done a memory check?  http://www.memtest86.com/ might be a good place to start.

Are all your connections (IDE, power, etc) connected securely?

Hopefully a real techie will be along soon to help you further.

Ad Aware (http://www.lavasoft.de/)
Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/)

I think its my GFX overheating again and therefore stopping the signal output to my monitor.

After donig a google it seems I'm not the only person with that problem with this card (GeForce 3 Ti 200)

Have to fork out for a new one.

Hiya Twigs,

I've been suffering with exactly the same infuriating symptoms on my big box for the past 4-5 months.  I've been absloutely tearing my hair out over it, so I've recently taken to using my laptop instead.

Guess which graphics card is in the big box?  I'm going surfing now...
