Title: converting avi's to mpeg

hey all...
i have a home movie that i want to convert from an avi to a dvd format however the current software i have ( all video converter ) is quite poor and takes ages... does anyone know of any different software that can do the job?

WinAvi is about the fastest converter to all formats I have used Jon  :)
