How can I change it to a region free player?.....Jim
-
Do you mean that you have used up your 5 region changes on your pcs DVD rom ?
-
not yet , someone told me sometime ago there was an article in Computeractive about it!....Jim
-
Ok, there are usually only 5 changes you can make before your DVD rom will lock into the last region that was change no 5 and supposedly you would have to send it back to the manufacturer to unlock it.
There are various programs that claim to make them region free but I have never tried any myself yet.
Have a look at this link :
http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/articles/region.html
Has the info about all related dvd region stuff, both software and hardware in links from the main one.
Hope this is what you were after Jim :)

A little idea to suggest, which I'm not sure if it'll work. Sandra will confirm the yes or no:
Right click "My Computer" on the desktop.
take "Manage".
choose on the left side the computer components or perepheric.
On the right side take the DVD drive and right-click one of them if you have two.
Take "Property"
Take the tab "DVD Region"
Maybe there you can modify or do something. Or at least I hope for you. :)

I think its in properties then device manager Joudi.
The region tab doesnt appear on mine from the manage section :(
-
Yes Sandra! In device manager, if you right-click on one of the DVD drives, and choose "Property", you'll get that tab.
Well, I have it here. I'll be surprised if you don't find it there.

I think you'll find that's what you can only change 5 times, then it locks, Joudi. There's a program called DVD Region Free, which is supposed to eliminate region locking.
