Title: Power Calibration Error
Post by: GillE on April 20, 2005, 22:52
When I try to write to my DVD+R/RW drive, I get the error message 'Power Calibration Error' and the drive seizes up.  Can anyone explain this, please?

Have you just started using a different make of DVD Gill ?

I have found this which may be the cause of your problem :

Thanks guys - very useful links.  I suspect the root of the problem is that the type of blank DVD+R I'm using is a cheap 'budget' one from www.BigPockets.co.uk.  I think they only cost about 21p each (I'm such a skinflint)!  I've never had problems with these discs before, but I've just browsed the website and it would appear that they are no longer available.

As a matter of interest, what cheap and reliable blank DVD+Rs do other members use?

The last ones I got were Datawrite Classic Grey Label 8x DVD - R from :

www.ebuyer.com

I think they worked out at around £7 inc vat and postage for 25 so they were a little dearer than yours but no failures yet  :)
