It certainly should Jon.
Are you using a router with ethernet too or just a wi fi access point and wi fi cards at the moment ?

Yes, if youre connecting from an ethernet card in your pc then you will need a crossed cable.
If it was from the router then it would need a straight cable, although most routers these days seem to have auto sensing and will accept both straight and crossed cables  :)

It should be possible Jon but I must admit I have never tried it with an Xbox myself.
Have you run the network wizard again with the Xbox connected and turned on ?
You may have to go into a Dos window and do the command iprenew/all, i cant think of the exact command as DOS isnt my forte but if you look in the help section of XP and look up IP it should give you the commands  :)

The error code for your problem is 765 Jon.
I cant find much about how to fix it but I did come across this :

Error 765 - Internet connection sharing cannot be enabled. A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address required for automatic IP addressing.

Make sure that Internet Connection Sharing is set to LAN.

Dont know if it helps or not  :?
