Title: "LogIn" Icon for XP
Post by: joudi on May 13, 2005, 04:09
By installing a certain program, it requiered the installation of "Microsoft FrameWork 1.1", which I did.

In fact, some other programs requiered the same from me before. The problem is that, its' installation creates the Icon of "LogIn" for windows XP everytime I start my system. I have to click on my user "Name" to be able to enter into Windows. If not, it waites and waites...

Removing "FrameWork 1.1" causes always the losse of some elements of Windows.

Can I do something where I don't need to click on that user "Name" at the start?

PS.   My computer has only one user (me). It's only one session. I don't really need that icon.

Thank you...

Thank you Simon,

That seemed to me not exactly my case, but I tried it though (checking and unchecking both).

It didn't give me what I wanted. It's in fact for something else.

Any other suggestion from anyone?

Got it guys!

Go to «  START » menu and write « Control UserPasswords2 »

A dialog box called « Users account» will open, which has an option (?Users must enter user name and Password for this computer?), to be checked / unchecked in the ?Users? tab.

  It must be unchecked.

After clicking ?Apply?, it?ll propose you to select which account you do like to be logged in automatically in the future. (If you don?t usually use a password; don?t add here a password).

That will do the job.

But in fact, every time in the future, at the start of Windows, it?ll display for two or three seconds the message ?Changing of your parameters (settings)?, and it opens automatically; the account (session) of Windows which you have selected.

excellent...personally i like the nt login style. one thing i would suggest though - it might not be a good thing to have it setup for a root account.
