Title: Registry Edits for Windows XP
Post by: Sandra on August 10, 2005, 00:06
I dont know if someone has posted this before or not, I dont remember seeing it.

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

I have been trying to get a clean installation of XP pro that decided to refuse to allow me to change the Windows and Buttons in Appearance in Desktop Properties from windows classic style to windows XP style for about 3 hours

I had done sfc /scannow and various other things to try and correct it without success.
I came across a link to how to get the registery fix for my particular problem, it even told me which line to go to so I didnt have to browse through each section of the site.
I downloaded the fix which in this case was a folder with 2 files in it to a USB flash drive on my pc, deleted the corrupted folder which had the 2 files missing from it on the problem pc and replaced them with the ones from this site.
Job sorted  :)

Yes, I posted that some time ago, but no harm in having a reminder - it's a good site.
