Title: Autoplay

Hi
I have found that when exploring one of my disk partitions it is set as autoplay. Clicking on the drive icon brings the error message this OS is not supported. In the file menu it has AutoPlay at the top instead of Open.
The open option is second on the list and works fine.
Installing then uninstalling some software has caused this. How can I remove the AutoPlay?

Have you installed a program that creates a virtual drive for opening image files on, just before this started happening, as that would possibly enable an autoplay feature as it creates a mountable drive ?

Are you using XP ?
If so have a look in Admin Tools/Disk Management.

You may be able to alter something in there to stop the auto play feature.
I cant think how though at the moment  :?

I am using Windows ME and the problem was caused by some
software but not noted until it was unistalled.

I am still thinking about a solution but without musch success at the moment  :(

Is this partition on your main boot drive or is it on a slave drive ?
If its on a slave then you could try removing it in device manager then shut down and disconnect it, reboot the pc and then shut down connect it again and it may redect it properly  :?

Not sure if this will help, but on XP, if you go to My Computer, then right click a drive, select Properties, then the Auto Play tab, there are some options there you could try.

Hi
Thank you for your advice.
My system is Windows ME and the drive in question is my E drive, the second partion on the slave drive.
I cannot see options, in any menues associated with the drive, to change or remove the AutoPlay function.
If you look at the drive in my computor the first option in the file menu is AutoPlay instead of Open, which is second in the list. If I look under
properties it appears the same as the other drives.

Did you try doing as I suggested and uninstalling it from inside the device manager then shutting down and disconnecting the drive and rebooting again.
Then shut down again and reconnect the slave drive, it should then find "new hardware" and install it correctly without the auto play function.
