Title: Searching for listings
Post by: Clive on February 01, 2006, 21:44
Is anyone else having a problem with the Sky EPG not working?  All I am getting is "Searching for listings"  I've gone through the reboot procedure but it hasn't fixed it.

Seems that Sky has carried out a software upgrade that is incompatible with Panasonic boxes.  Prats!

Yep - I had this yesterday, but it has fixed itself now.

Maybe more info over on the Digital Spy forums.

Have you tried switching the box off, leaving it for 10mins and switching back on? - [EDIT: just read your first message - sorry! ]

Also their is a Planner Rebuild option somewhere in the settings... not sure if you have a Sky+ box or not....

Thanks for that DJ.  It makes very interesting reading!  I find it incredible that Sky carried out this upgrade without bothering to check that it was compatible with the Panasonic boxes which they recommended in the first place!  I've e-mailed Sky myself but they haven't bothered to reply.

Apparently, if you switch the Sky box off, leave it for ten minutes, then switch it back on whilst simultaneously pressing the 'backup' button on the box until all the LEDs light up, your box will automatically download the latest software upgrade.  I've been told that the software upgrade takes about ten minutes.

I'll certainly try that Gill but I think that it's the software upgrade that's causing the problem.  One of my neighbours has the same box and she has the same error message.  Sky are not publicly admitting there is a fault but judging by the volume of complaints on other forums they could find themselves on Watchdog next Tuesday!

There is a fix (of sorts) which makes it easier to live with the system.  This is improbable but it works!  Turn off at mains and type in channel No. 106 as soon as it will allow you to.  You can then get "All Channels" working as normal but not as groups.  It just means scrolling a bit more but it's far better than going through every channel individually!
