Post by: sam on April 10, 2006, 10:53
3D desktop? If you thought the Mac's way of operating was cool then with nice transparency and 3d alternate desktops... well you will love Project Looking Glass. Fully 3D... it is in very alpha stages at the moment though I do have a friend who has gotten it install on a linux box.

I've been staring at it for the past ten minutes using my eclipse glasses.  I think I should have used my 3D glasses instead!

Cam thats not really the same thing. It really turns your windows desktop into a proper mac / gnome style one. Which is so much better and I would suggest using it. The whole point in this project is to have a true 3D desktop where you can have things at angles and get away from the current 2D box idea. Still though saying that I might have to take a proper look at this... looks like it would make my windows machine nicer to use.... like a mac! :-)

Oh and as for free its not if you go for the better version, shame that...
