I did a little digging on google and found one on this page. here (http://mirror.href.com/thestarman/asm/mbr/BootToolsRefs.htm)
The MBRUtil.exe utility saves it from inside windows. Im not going to test restoring it on this machine. Ill test it on a spare machine in the other room. When you install linux and dual boot it with your windows installation. Either lilo or grub edits the mbr and puts a redirect to another file which gives you a choice of where to go next. Being able to undo the dual boot makes life easier if i decide i want things back the way they were.
Thanks guys.
