I thought I'd give it a try, and although it seems to work well enough with MSN Messenger, I'm having trouble getting engaged in a conference on Yahoo Messenger. Yesterday, two people sent me several invites into the conference, but nothing appeared in Trillian. In the end I had to switch back to Y! Messenger itself (and all the annoying ads), to enter the conference. I'm beginning to think it can't be done, but am reluctant to admit defeat! Any ideas?

Hmmm hi simon, sorry tried answering this ages ago but wouldlt let me in.
I do this with no trouble at all!
Have you upgraded to the latest version? i use trillian Pro and have no problems.
I did use the free version once and that gave me no end of stick, maybe thats the problem?

Hi Hitch,
Since posting the question I have discovered that only the Pro version allows Yahoo conferencing. I have also discovered that there is a common problem sending files through MSN on BOTH of the current versions. I have tried the Pro version ;) but for some reason it wouldn't allow me to add people to the conversation, on MSN, but the Free version does! ::)
I have posted some comments on their support forums regarding these problems, as have hundreds of other people! To be honest I think they have a cheek asking people to pay for an 'upgraded' version, when the 'free' version doesn't yet function properly! Other than the file sending problem, I actually like Trillian, and it's handy to keep track of who's online in just the one window.
A great idea, but still need some work! ;) :D

Simon, ive been talking to the guys that make trillian and they confirm most of what i said to you on msn the other day.
The majority of problems are due to incompatibily with msn's new code. While MS are very helpful and do get the new code out to others more often than not, its alwasy catchup for them so will always have some trouble at some point.
MS seem to have totally altered there latest code yet not so many are taking up the offer with the new msn, this leaves poeple like trillian in dire straits. If they code for new msn they lose compatibilty with older msn users, if they dont code for new they lose compatability with the network in general.
one word says it all really..
BUGGA!

That's interesting, Hitch. It's a bit of a shame the Trillian guys are not as open on their own forum. A lot of people have been asking the same questions, but answers have been not very forthcoming.
I actually went on http://www.oldversion.com/ and rolled back a couple of versions, but the file transfers still wouldn't happen. I wonder how far it would be necessary to go back to get a version of MSN Messenger compatible with Trillian?
Thanks for the info, anyway. ;D
