Title: WMP annoyance

Each time I insert a CD into my D Drive, Windows Media Player starts to rip the tracks from the CD.  I know that when it did this once, I clicked OK, because I actually wanted it to do so, before I realised that a box was ticked to do it every time.   This is becoming annoying, and I can't find a way to stop it, but it's probably quite easy, and I'm looking too hard for the answer.  Help, anyone?

Hiya Si  8-)

me thinks you have 2 options  :laugh:


1, In WMP is there a setting to stop ripping files/ go to WMP click on RIP then open tools / Rip Music tab then untick "rip cd when inserted"

2, Or Open my Computer, click on said drive / properties and due the correct action.

Hi Simon

I suspect you need to look in Options - Copy Music and see if the Copy CD when inserted option is selected.

Thanks guys,

The 'rip when inserted' options in WMP were already unticked, and in My Computer, the drive was set to Prompt to choose an action, so neither of those should have caused WMP to take things into it's own hands, however, I have reapplied the Prompt option in My Computer, and that seems to have solved the problem.
