How do you maintain file integrity when your copying more than a few times?

what do you mean by copying? to disk, ftp or just normal file to file on the same hd? .. you could always do a bitwise compare.

Disk to disk. I have large archives i move or copy from disk to disk. Sometimes the disks are installed and sometimes on a usb device. Im worried that after awhile the file will start to degrade. I have a friend that tells me windows has built in checksums that double check information being copied around, but I still wish i could double check.

in linux it would be simple as you could just do the file compare.... but with windows, umm... I think it does do as you suggest... maybe there is a tool you could find? Anyone got any ideas?
