Title: Program opening
Post by: greenking on February 22, 2003, 16:05
I'm having great difficulty opening several of my programs as my computer cannot find file mfc42.dll

The only way i can open them at the moment is to find this file by searching and then dragging and dropping it into the short cut on desktop.

It should be in your c\windows\systemfiles Greenking, have you copied it in there? The programs should find it by themselves from there  :-*

Hi Greenking, you are now in DLL Hell! ;)

Usually the cause of this problem is a badly behaved program overwriting the mfc42.dll file with a different version. This can cause all sorts of programs to go wrong.

Have you installed a new program recently? It may the culprit.

If you are running Windows 98 the System File Checker program should be able to restore the correct version of the file for you :)

ERROR STARTING PROGRAM
The COMMONUI.DLL file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6569.

A device attached to the ststem is not functioning
