Title: Last Flight to Kuwait
Post by: Clive on March 20, 2007, 09:46
Did anyone see this programme on BBC2 last night?  Not sure why they threw it away on an 11.20 pm slot when it was such riveting viewing.  Basiclally it showed how Mrs Thatcher risked the lives of hundreds of air travellers by allowing a plane bound for the far east to make a refuelling stop in Kuwait in the full knowledge that Iraq had already invaded Kuwait.  It was done just so that she could get a dozen or so SAS guys into Kuwait to keep an eye on what Sadam was up to.  All the passengers ended up in human shields in Basra although the SAS guys thankfully disappeared into the woodwork.  The programme didn't finish until 1 am by which time I was drifting off to sleep!

No I wanted to watch it - but it was on too late. Wonder if it'll be repeated.

Should have recorded it really  :dunno:

I was more upset about the bloody football once again disrupting the regular schedules on BBC1 last night, and was most annoyed to have inadvertently recorded 2 hours of it, thinking it was going to be EastEnders, Panorama and Whistleblower on Banks.  Why can't they put minority sporting events on BBC2, or preferably a dedicated sad gits sports channel, instead of denying viewers their regular soap fix at short notice?

If I had to sit through one of those depressing episodes of EastEnders I would probably have to hang myself.   ;D
