I was repairing XP on a freinds PC ,when I started getting messages to install " 2nd disc XP pro " what second disc ?
-
I have had that sometimes.
I think if you just pop the cd out and back in it should carry on.
As far as I know only Media Centre Edition comes on 2 cds

As i did not know where to find these files I had to cancel them individually to continue the installion process !
All of these files are all associated with connecting to the web ,because the web connection is the only component that is not working everything else is fine !
So does anyone have any ideas ,oh one more thing I tried to format the drive to do a clean install ,message "Windows could not complete" whats that all about !.......Jim
p.s. This is the guide I used : http://www.windowsreinstall.com/winxppro/installxpcdrepair/indexfullpage.htm was installing Network Settings when I ran into problems !

All those files are on your XP pro cd Jim, in the I386 folder.
I just looked for them on mine and searched for the first 5 and as they were all there I searched for a few at random farther down your list.
I cant see that the 9 or so I looked for being there and not the rest.
If you want to wipe the drive and start afresh Jim then just boot from the XP cd and when it gets to the bit where it shows the partitions and OSs select the delete C partition option, assuming thats where your damaged XP installation is.
You then have to hit L to confirm deletion.
Then use C to create a partition, this gives you the option to resize it if its not using the whole drive as a single partition, remember it use Mbs not Gbs.
Then select install to that partition and it wil format and install.
What was wrong with the pc initially that made you want to repair XP ?
