Ayup!
Problem.............
I've transfered a digital video from my camera onto Windows Movie Maker.
Now I want to burn it to make a DVD, but Nero tells me that it doesn't recognize the format. This is a bit odd, because I managed to do it once before, but not now I can't.
-The Nero I have has a DVD & CD option-
How do I change the format, if that is really the problem?
Cheers

Which format is it in now, I would have thought it was mpeg 2 which nero should handle ok ???
-
Well, the name of the video is followed by: MSWMM
I'm then told that it has to be: MPEG-1
I suppose it's just a case of changing the format?

It is but I havent come across MSWWM before, it sounds like its Micro Soft Windows Movie Maker.
Did it not give which option to save it as when you transferred it ?
If you open it with Windows Movie Maker have a look under file and see if theres an export or save as option and see if you can save it as mpeg 1 or mpeg 2, that should then burn ok in Nero.
-
Yes. It's windows movie maker and the video has been saved as MSWMM.
I don't remember being asked how I wanted to save it, but the other video that I have is WMV.
I have tried to save it as a different format, but it won't let me. Is there a tool out there that could convert it?
-
I found this elsewhere - can't verify it, but it might be worth a try:
OK... open Windows Movie Maker, and Highlight your file on the collections list. When this is highlighted, click "save movie" on the top toolbar... (DO NOT CLICK FILE> SAVE AS... this will only save it again as MSWMM file)... once u have clicked Save Movie, a box will appear... click OK, and it will download files off the net to convert to a WMV file automatically.

Thanks Simon,
I'll give it a go when I get back from my well earned holiday.
See you in August 8-)

Oh, talk about a cliffhanger! ;D

Ha ha!!
I'm back..............with a tan.............and back to work...................... :bawl: :ack:
Right. I found out how to do it. I clicked on the first drop down menu, and then on 'capture video'. There are 3 options. I chose the second one which includes various formats. Anyway, I put it on CD and then into my DVD player. The image was alright, but the sound was too slow. So, I'll have to try it again because I don't know what happened there. And these experiments take soooooo long.
One more point, which hasn't got anything to do with WMM. When I type a site addy on the explorer, all the other sites that I have visited briefly appear. How can I stop that from happening?
Cheers

Hi John,
Are we talking about Internet Explorer? Assuming so, and also assuming it's IE7, all you need to do is click Tools > Delete Browsing History, then you can select which data you want to delete. Delete History should clear your address bar.
-
Hi Simon,
It's IE6. I've deleted the browser history, cookies etc, but some addesses still keep appearing.
It's as if they have been stored somewhere. I'll have a look around 'tools' and see what I can come up with.
Cheers

It's probably the AutoComplete function, John. I found this, which may be useful:
How To Adjust AutoComplete Settings:
You can configure AutoComplete to save and suggest only the information you want. You can choose whether to use AutoComplete for Web addresses, forms, and passwords, or not use it all. You can also clear the history for any of these:
1. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Content tab.
3. Under Personal information, click AutoComplete.
4. Select the check boxes for the AutoComplete options you want to use.

How To Delete AutoComplete Entries From The Address Bar List:
The AutoComplete feature saves previous entries you've made for Web addresses, forms, and passwords. To delete entries from the Address bar, you must clear your History folder. You cannot clear individual entries from the list of saved entries.
1. On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
2. Click the General tab.
3. Under History, click Clear History.
How To Turn Off AutoComplete:
To turn off the AutoComplete feature you will have to go into another section as the option is not with the AutoComplete Settings.
1. On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Scroll down and look under Browsing, click Use inline AutoComplete and remove the tick.

AutoComplete should now no longer work.

That's done it.
I knew it could be turned off, but if you don't know where to look...........
Cheers Simon!
