Hi all,
I am an XP user but my mate has just bought his first PC loaded with Vista.
He tells me he can't burn a music CD onto his hard disk.
I haven't had a chance to pop over to his house to have a look, but not being experienced with Vista anyway I thought I would ask the question.
Could this be because of the DRM in Vista?
Is there a way of turning it off?
Regards Martin

Sandra will be able to help out on this one! ;)

I havent tried ripping a CD with Vista or heard of anyone having problems with it but it could be that its a protected CD so youd have to do the same as you would with a protected CD with XP and run a ripping program that would overcome it.

Hi Sandra,
Thanks for the advice.
I'll pop over and see my mate tomorrow then I'll have a better idea.
He is a novice so it is probably as you said.
I just thought while I have time on my hands at work I might find something out before tomorrow.
Thanks again Martin

I may have something interesting to report re Vista and it not doing what XP used to do later this weekend so check back in the vista section over the weekend :)
I am looking into VMware Workstation 6 and thinking of installing it later this afternoon on a friends Vista PC to overcome a vista problem.
I will let you know how and if it works later :)
