what cd/dvd burning software do people use. Are there any decent free ones available.
At the moment am using nero as a lot of people probably do but want to try others for comparison.

I've always used Nero. Tried Roxio and didn't get on with it, along with the fact that it takes over your machine if you let it. I believe there are one or two free ones, DeepBurner (http://www.deepburner.com/) springs to mind, which comes in a Free and Pro versions. I haven't found one yet that does all of what Nero does.

cheers Simon, I too tried Roxio ages ago but didnt like it either ;D.
have been thinking about Deepburner but am unsure if it will work with my DVD 'back up' prog ;) whereas nero does.....know what i mean

Another Nero fan here. I used to use Roxio maybe 12 years ago, but that was when it was still Adaptec.

I use an older version of nero over the newer ones. For some reason v6 doesn't error out like v7 does on my machine. Plus the older versions are void of all the added junk that is being installed with nero these days.

I use Nero 7.5.7.0 , it works well with xp & vista, just do a custom install no need to load all the junk.
